Default Warrior Beastmaster viable?

When guild wars first came out, my first character was a w/r beast master build. Eventually I have switched many times to other builds.

Now it has been 2 years since I have tried any beast master build. With all of the new skills available from the expansions and tons of new pet options, is a warrior beastmaster build still viable, or is it just as unfavored as it was 2 years ago? My warrior is exclusively PvE and for my enjoyment (dont do runs or farm much) -

he is in effect my weekend warrior ! And I would give anything to have my furry companion follow me around some more!

Thanks for the help

My War is exactly the same thing - strictly a fun character I play now and then when I feel like it. He often runs with a Dire Wolf. Here's a sword build I've been running lately that seems to work:

OQITEVqa3RogYBM6mp2Vh2sZAA

Power Attack
Barbarous Slice
Gash
Ferocious Strike [E]
Sun and Moon Slash
"For Great Justice!"
Comfort Animal
Charm Animal

Damage is good, and the pet is nice for assisting in a spike. Of course, there's no defense or self-heal, so I wouldn't take it anywhere serious. But it works in most Normal Mode PVE.

It's viable enough in PvE, normal mode anyways - then again, just about anything works with AI to back you up. So, with fun in mind... Go for it! Hero/hench can't complain
I've found Brutal Strike to be fun with a hammer or axe, essentially giving these weapons a Final Thrust Though you'd need a zealous weapon...

However, as far as, you know, 'awesomesauce' warrior builds go (shock axe, Dragon Slash etc.), Beastmaster warriors generally aren't considered as all too good (IWAY aside... those were the days! ).
A pet, and the various skills/attributes it requires, uses far too much skill space on an already crammed warrior bar. I doubt I'd be bringing my beastmaster Stormlord into serious PvP anytime soon

Woot! Another EDIT... I edit too much and use too many smilies when I'm tired and cold...

Aaaaand another edit before people immolate me... Yes, I'm well aware of the negative stigma surrounding IWAY... But it's the only PvP warrior build (if it can be called a build as such...) that used pets that I could think of... I'm tired, ok?

My W/R still doesn't use the pet any more. I've levelled my beloved Melandru's Stalker Meat Pie to lvl 20, but with all the new skills I can't see the effectiveness of having a pet with my wonderful warrior skills. Even with the new pet controls, I feel my warrior is better off without his pet.

Having said that, my R/Mo is a beast master and using it with my hero's using their pets, we have a massive army. My pet skills have been increasing with each campaign, and my ranger loves all the pet skills. I guess the expertise e-management is what wins me over, a warrior having a pet that doesn't do much damage without pet attack skills is better off with no pet at all IMHO.
